Back in January, I had the immense pleasure to do a 3-part LIVE session with Patrice from IAMAG. Under the title "Cinematic Concept Art for Movies and Games", I've shared my whole work process from start to finish, shared my thoughts and techniques, and just talked with Patrice a little bit about life as a concept artist.
I've talked about 2D, 3D, VR, shaders in Blender, lighting setup, and more.
These sessions were designed under the topic of "growing as an artist". We all start out at the foot of a mountain and want to reach the top. Sometimes though, the path is arduous, dangerous, or seems to be unmanageable. But every challenge helps you to grow and brings you a step further to the top of the mountain, to your goals.
Although I've shown the creation of just one of these images (the one where our hero is jumping), they all are part of this idea and are supposed to show these different challenges artists have to overcome. I can only say it's a difficult hike, but it's always more than rewarding to go through it. Challenges are there to overcome.
